Marriage a La Mode

From Hogarth to the Victoria Art Gallery

This rather unusual painting's composition was inspired by the painting 'The Artist and his Wife' by Cecil Collins, who was my tutor while at Central School of Art.  I called it 'Marriage a La Mode' after the Hogarth series of paintings rerpresenting marriage; the fact that the married couple are happily drinking tea while chaos surrounds them slightly reminds me of life in my home!

It is currently on display at Victoria Art Gallery in  Bath.
